Watermelon -
The Ultimate in Weight Loss Foods
Why do I consider watermelon to be the ultimate in
weight
loss foods? Well, I'm speaking from experience. I remember
reading somewhere about the positive health effects from eating
watermelon, so I decided to try it. For a solid week, I ate nothing but
watermelon for breakfast in the morning. The meals I had for lunch and
dinner were pretty typical. What was the result? For that week, I lost
4 pounds without really trying.
Watermelon
as a Weight Loss Food
How did this happen? Well, I did a little bit of research, and this is
what I learned. Watermelon has the highest water content of any food
out there (something like 92%) and is also high in fiber. This helps
improve the digestion of other foods in your body, as well as promotes
rapid weight loss. Watermelon is also cholesterol free, and is almost
fat free. This is why it is such a fantastic food if you are interested
in losing weight.
More Benefits
of Watermelon
Watermelon has many other health benefits beyond
weight loss. Consider the following:
- Watermelon has 40% more lycopene by volume than
tomatoes. Lycopene helps to reduce swelling in the prostrate, as well
as reduces the risk for cancer.
- High lycopene levels can also increase the sex
drive and improve fertility.
- Watermelon is very high in Vitamin A which
helps improve eyesight, including the prevention of macular
degeneration and night blindness.
- Watermelon is also an excellent source of such
vitamins and minerals as vitamin C, B6, B1, potassium and magnesium.
Watermelon Strategies
If you want to try eating watermelon for weight
loss, try eating nothing but watermelon in the morning. It is important
to eat it by itself. If you eat it with other foods, including other
fruit, you may develop an unpleasant, gassy feeling. For lunch and
dinner, eat lean protein, along with other fruits and vegetables. If
you do this, I think you'll be feeling lean and mean in no time.
